The Evolving Game

Podcast

The Evolving Game Podcast began out of Necessity.

When starting my masters it became apparent that it was vital to supplement my studies with work experience. This was challenging as, during the height of covid in Australia, everyone was bound to their houses. I decided that over the trimester break I would work on getting a podcast released by the following study break.

Due to my music editing experience and love of podcast, I brainstormed an idea for a podcast that would highlight my sporting knowledge, develop my ability to talk behind a microphone, connect myself with those within the sporting industry, and of course have a little bit of fun.

Initially all episodes were recorded, edited, and produced by myself. As the world began to open up, and more opportunities came my way, time to work on this project dwindled. I turned to a media student friend to assist in producing the podcast.

The marketing and graphic design of the podcast continued to be undertaken by myself, in order to show my ability to use the Adobe Creative Suite.

I was experimental with formats and content, with the idea of finding a balance between the wants of listeners and the content I enjoyed creating.

So How Exactly was the Podcast Made?

Here are the steps I took to create an episode of the Evolving Game Podcast

  1. Brainstorm episode themes or potential guests.

  2. Write the episode or guest interview questions

  3. Record the podcast episode using Adobe Audition

  4. Edit the audio of the podcast episode or interview.

  5. Add sound effects and introduction and closing music.

  6. Record the episode's opening and closing remarks.

  7. Create show notes, a written summary of the episode, which can include links, images, and key takeaways.

  8. Create the Podcast episode and promotional graphics on Adobe Photoshop

  9. Add the episode to the Buzzsprout hosting platform and create an RSS feed for the episode

  10. Promote the episode on social media platforms.
